The Day I Met Myself!

This photo is an outtake from a photoshoot I did a few months ago. My cousin Brandi graciously came to assist me with the shoot. She is always 20 steps ahead of me and decided to take a few shots, so that I could have an idea of what poses were captured, and where they would be used in my upcoming project. After the photoshoot, she showed me the pictures she had captured. When I saw this photo, I was in complete awe! Not because of the makeup, hair or the aesthetic, as a former model I am use to that. It was because I met the new me for the first time!! It was the first time in my life, that I fully connected with being a GROWN Women! Don’t get it twisted the responsibility I carried let me know that I was grown many years ago, but even as I sang along to Beyoncé’s “I’m A Grown Women”, I didn’t embody it… society said I was grown, but I didn’t feel it. Let me explain, I was my first coaching client (SN: I am a tough client lol) what I learned through this journey is that I had allowed younger version of myself who had experience trauma to hinder my growth! I had to heal the 4-year-old who had been molested. I had to heal the 8-year-old who witness domestic violence. I had to heal the 13-year-old who feared for her life daily. I had to heal my heart from relationships, and a failed marriage, betrayal from those I trusted and the list went on and on. After all of that work, emerged the women you see in the picture. She is a producer of life, a mom of an amazing son, she’s a friend, minister, cousin, daughter, a trailblazer, entrepreneur, coach and so much more. Things are different now, because I made a conscious choice to live life differently and it has made all the difference! Are you ready to live differently? Are you ready to walk in purpose?
